School: Birdville

Josh Dorman

What he did: Dorman fell just short of a state record-tying offensive performance in a 63-28 win over Azle on Friday.

Who is he? A 6-2, 180-pound senior quarterback.

The stats: Dorman completed 32 of 43 attempts for 553 yards and seven touchdowns with no interceptions. He has thrown for 1,608 yards and 23 touchdowns for Birdville (4-0) this season.

He said it: "It's definitely exciting. We're putting fans in the stands because of the offense. Our line has improved so much, and our receivers are ridiculous. I get a lot of the credit, but it's really all them."

Coach said it: "It's really been a combination of a lot of things for him. He's getting time to throw the football. Josh has just been on target." – Jim Skinner

Did you know? Three weeks ago, Dorman tied the state record of eight touchdown passes in a game, which he shares with four other players – Jabo Leonard (1971, Barbers Hill), Kirk Saul (1986, Turkey Valley), Drew Tate (2001, Baytown Lee) and Scotty Young (2009, Denton Ryan). ... His older brother Tommy, a former Birdville quarterback, is a redshirt freshman at Texas A&M. ... Some of the schools recruiting him are Stephen F. Austin, UTEP, Air Force, Baylor, TCU and Ouachita Baptist.
